Comprehensive Cardiac & Diagnostic Services

Ambulatory Blood Pressure

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring involves wearing a small device that tracks your blood pressure throughout the day, typically over a 24 or 48-hour period. The monitor automatically measures your blood pressure while you go about your regular activities.

The device takes readings every 30 minutes during the day and once an hour at night. After the monitoring period, the collected data is analyzed and shared with your physician to help assess fluctuations in your blood pressure and guide your care.

Cardiac Consultation

A Cardiac Consultation is a thorough assessment conducted by a specialist to evaluate your heart's function and behaviours in order to determine the most appropriate treatment for any underlying conditions. This consultation is typically required if you are experiencing new or ongoing cardiac concerns that your primary healthcare provider would like to have evaluated. The appointment usually lasts about 60 minutes. To prepare for the consultation, it is important to provide a list of all current medications you are taking, as well as a record of any relevant past medical history.

Electrocardiogram (ECHO)

An Electrocardiogram (ECHO) is a diagnostic test that uses sound waves (ultrasound) to create a detailed image of your heart. This test provides a visual representation of the shape, texture, and movement of your heart valves, as well as the size of your heart chambers and how well they are functioning. An ECHO is typically required when assessing a variety of cardiac conditions, such as heart murmurs, heart muscle damage, infections, or if you are experiencing symptoms like abnormal heart sounds, shortness of breath, palpitations, chest pain, or have a history of stroke. The appointment generally lasts about 30 minutes, and no special preparation is needed for a standard ECHO test.

Exercise Stress Test

An Exercise Stress Test is designed to assess how well your heart responds to both rest and physical exertion. This test provides valuable information about how your heart performs during exercise, helping to determine if there is sufficient blood flow to the heart as activity levels increase. It is also used to evaluate the effectiveness of heart medications in controlling conditions like angina and ischemia, identify abnormal heart rhythms, and assess the function of the heart valves, especially if they are not functioning properly. The test typically lasts about 60 minutes. For preparation, you should avoid eating or drinking anything except water for 4 hours before the test and refrain from consuming caffeine for 12 hours prior. Be sure to consult your doctor about which heart medications to omit on the day of the test. If you use an inhaler, bring it with you. On the day of the test, wear comfortable clothing and soft-soled shoes suitable for walking.

Heart Health Program

The Heart Health Program is an educational service designed to monitor and improve your cardiac health and lifestyle behaviors. Its primary goal is to enhance cardiovascular health and reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. The program works with you to create a personalized plan focused on preventing heart disease and improving overall heart health. It offers immediate feedback and support to help you make informed decisions about your well-being. Your program may include medical recommendations from your doctor regarding heart health and disease prevention, lifestyle counseling on physical activity and nutrition, patient education, smoking cessation counseling, and stress management training.

Holter Monitoring

A Holter Monitor is a small device that attaches to your skin with adhesive wires for a specified period, as determined by your healthcare provider, to continuously monitor the electrical activity of your heart. This test may be requested by your primary healthcare provider or specialist to assess how your heart responds to normal daily activities. It is also commonly used after a heart attack to diagnose heart rhythm problems or when starting a new heart medication. The monitoring typically takes place over 24, 48, or 72 hours outside the clinic, allowing you to go about your normal routine at home. The initial setup and training at the clinic take approximately 30 minutes.

Internal Medicine Consultation

An Internal Medicine Consultation involves a specialist who focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic illnesses. This consultation may be required if you have new or ongoing health concerns that your primary healthcare provider would like to have evaluated. The appointment typically lasts around 60 minutes. To prepare for the consultation, it is important to provide a list of all current medications and a record of any relevant past medical history.

Pulmonary Function Test

A Pulmonary Function Test measures how well your lungs are working, including their capacity and breathing patterns. This test is typically required to diagnose certain lung diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, or emphysema, as well as to determine the cause of shortness of breath or exposure to toxins or chemicals. The appointment usually lasts about 30 minutes. To prepare for the test, it is recommended to avoid eating a heavy meal and refrain from consuming caffeinated foods or drinks beforehand. You should also avoid smoking or engaging in heavy exercise for at least 6 hours prior to the test and wear loose clothing that won’t restrict your breathing.

Stress Echo

A Stress Echo is an exercise test that involves walking, jogging, or running for a few minutes to assess your cardiovascular capacity. This test is typically required if you are experiencing new or ongoing symptoms of angina or chest pain, if your angina is worsening, if you have recently had a heart attack, or if you are preparing for surgery or starting an exercise program. The appointment generally lasts around 60 minutes. To prepare for the test, you should avoid eating or drinking anything except water for 4 hours beforehand and refrain from consuming caffeine for 12 hours prior. Consult your doctor about which heart medications to omit on the day of the test. If you use an inhaler, be sure to bring it with you. On the day of the test, wear comfortable clothes and running shoes suitable for walking.
